There are 26 hours left until we close the books on 2015 for good. And we plan on sending the year off in style.
If you still haven’t planned anything, you might be in full NYE panic mode. Don’t sit at home alone with a bottle of Andre, lamenting your procrastinating ways and wishing you were out with friends at a sweet New Year’s bash. There’s still time to plan something awesome.
We’ve rounded up the best NYE parties that either require no advance reservation or still have a few tickets left, just waiting for you to snag. Read on for our picks and have a Happy New Year, friends!
Party like it’s 1933 at Two James, Detroit’s first licensed distillery since Prohibition. In addition to the deliciously sippable craft cocktails prepared in the TJD tasting room, Esto’s Garage will be on site whipping up some of his favorite eats just for you. Food will be available for purchase starting at 1 p.m. and snacks will be complimentary from 9 p.m. until Midnight. There’s no need to make reservations, just show up with an appetite for guacamole.
Just a stone’s throw from all the D-drop action downtown, The Whisky Parlor is hosting a four course dinner to ring in the New Year. After kicking things off with a berry champagne cocktail, you’ll get to swoon over your choice of appropriately indulgent dishes like English cut prime rib, lobster bisque and vanilla bean cheesecake. They still have a few reservations left, so even procrastinators can get in on the fun. Dinner costs $55 per person. Call (313) 961-3043 to reserve your spot.
Sports fans should head over to Bookie’s Bar and Grille as early as 4 p.m. for a Spartans tailgate and screening of the Cotton Bowl game vs. Alabama. There’s no cover before game time (kickoff is at 8:16 p.m.), and the bar will be slinging drink specials including green beer and champagne all night long. They’ll have a DJ and dancing following the game. Stick around for the complimentary coney bar and fireworks at Midnight.
The ladies of Nothing Elegant know how to throw a serious party, and they’re pulling out all the stops for NYE. In partnership with Dine Drink Detroit and DJ Thornstryker (the official Detroit Pistons DJ), they’re hosting a New Year’s bash at The Eastern (behind Detroit Mercantile in Eastern Market). Expect a sweaty, dance-filled night of awesomeness.
There are still a few tickets left for the party of the year. Doors open at 9 p.m. and the fun lasts until the clock strikes Midnight. Advance tickets cost just $12. Click here for more info and to snag your ticket.
If you enjoy your craft cocktails with prizes on the side, DCD is your spot for NYE. They’ll be open with not cover from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. and giving away prizes for every 50th libation sold. There will also be specials on French 75 cocktails and live music by Khary Frazier and his band. No tickets or reservation required.
You’ll be close to all the action but feel worlds away at this snug hideaway in The Belt. There are still a few tickets left for Standby’s decadent six course tasting menu which includes bites like spiced root vegetable beignets, confit of suckling pig and confections prepared by Bon Bon Bon. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. and costs $125 per person. Snag your tickets online in advance.
Later in the evening, they’ll allow a limited number of guests in for drinks, including a champagne toast at Midnight and passed hors d’oeuvres for $30 per person. There’s no need to make reservations for drinks, but we suggest stopping by early (think 9 p.m.) to be among the lucky few to score one of the few seats available inside.
