Dishes which combine breakfast and lunch into one joyous mashup are some of our favorite things to eat. Fried chicken and waffles, grilled steak and eggs, huevos rancheros…they are all delish. But here’s one you probably haven’t tried before: the hashbrown sandwich.
Picture a classic steak sando with all the trimmings. You might normally order it with chips or a side of fries. But what if, instead, that sammy came with the spuds on top? A glistening, salty stack of golden potatoes, shredded and grilled until they become delightfully crispy. Yes, please.
Shredderz food truck is where the humble sandwich meets homestyle hashbrowns, and together they create a tasty carnival of flavors and textures in your mouth. Their sandos are served on a soft, chewy hoagie roll. The potatoes are grilled, getting soft and tender before developing a lovely brown crust which gives the sandwiches a nice texture, adding a crunch to the otherwise soft combination of meat and bread.
A Steak Shredder combines tender, shredded steak, a savory brown sauce and a four cheese blend. The Chicken Shredder marries succulent shredded chicken, bathed in a lemon-herb marinade then grilled, with a four cheese blend. You could also order your Shredder loaded up with barbecue pulled pork – smothered in a tangy homemade sauce – or a seasonal rotation of grilled veggies.
If you’re not feeling the potato sandwich vibe, the Breakfast Browns might be more your style. A big pile of Shredderz signature hash is topped with egg, bacon and green onion. A hearty and delicious way to start (or end) the day.
You can catch Shredderz tonight (Tuesday, Aug. 23) at Midtown’s Third Street Bar from 6 p.m. until they run out of food. They’ll also be at the Riverside Marina on Saturday, Sept. 3 starting at 12 p.m. for Riverside Groove. For details about the truck’s upcoming appearances, check out their website or Facebook page.
