We almost never suggest ordering anything other than steak at a steak restaurant. Whatever an eatery’s theme or focus, ordering one of their signature dishes usually guarantees a positive dining experience. Anything else is like ordering a burger or mac and cheese at a great Thai restaurant – they might be good, but you’re missing out on what they do best.
The one time we make an exception is for the roasted chicken at Wolfgang Puck Steak.
Located inside the MGM Grand Casino, it’s on the gaming floor so you do need to be 21-years or older to enter. The more casual Wolfgang Puck Pizzeria & Cucina is just next door. But tonight, we’re splurging on the steakhouse. Specifically, we’re scarfing down unreasonable amounts of roasted chicken.
Their free-range bird is cooked rotisserie style with wild mushrooms and a chicken-rosemary jus. Every bite you put in your mouth is the most tender, juicy, flavorful chicken you’ve ever tasted. For anyone who thinks chicken is the boring dish you settle for because you can’t eat red meat every night of the week, this bird will turn your head.
It’s way too much food for one person. Usually too much for two. That’s ok. The leftovers are still delish.
If you are in the mood for steak, though, this is an excellent place to satisfy your craving. They have an all star lineup of the best cuts, from dry aged NY strips to American wagyu filets and bone-in Kansas City strips. On Sunday evenings you can get a gorgeous, marble-y roasted prime rib.
Our favorite is Wolfgang Puck’s ribeye. You can get a reasonable 12-oz. portion, or splurge on a 20-oz. bone in ribeye steak. You have to have a serious appetite to finish this behemoth, but it is has incredible flavor and is wonderfully tender. Perfectly cooked, every time. You won’t be able to stop eating it.
Don’t overlook the bread basket here. The warm little corn bread and pretzel rolls that come to your table with salted butter are worth spoiling your dinner over.
